Mt. Palay-Palay (Pico de Loro) | Traverse Hike

Last month I’ve conquered Mt Batulao and after that I was excited to go for another one. So right after that my mountaineer friends planned for another climb and decided to go to Pico de Loro.

Last weekend we we’re finally off to Cavite for our adventure.

After a bus ride we then rode a tricycle and dropped us off at the DENR station. We had our quick breakfast, the thing about having a company when eating is you tend to eat the food that they’re giving instead of the food that you bought haha! Anyway, after we registered we quickly started off with our trek.

After an hour we arrived at another DENR then registered, then off we go!

When I saw the bamboo forest I got so excited and I literally said "Ang dami ng bamboo! Malapit na tayo. I swear!" and our team leader was smiling and yes I am right we are near to the campsite. It took us roughly 2 hrs from the DENR up to the campsite. It also started to rain as we reach the steep assault which is a good thing it just let us cool off a bit.

Here we are we reached the campsite. From here hikers can already see the Parrot’s Beak. We took our lunch and also rest for about an hour I think. Then we ascended the very steep trail to the summit.

Unfortunately, because of the weather we weren't able to see the view clearly so everytime the clouds will pass we were all shouting "Ayan na si Monolith!" then I’ll immediately grab my camera. Looking at the Monolith from the summit I really want to climb it but then there are a lot of people so we then decided to just continue our hike - traverse to Nasugbu.

I was surprised that the first few meters of the trail, starting from the foot of the monolith down to the bamboo forest, was overwhelmingly steep or almost vertical. And the loose ground makes it slippery. It was also quite overgrown for the obvious reason that only a few uses this trail.

Overall, I've conquered another mountain and I’m extremely proud of myself. I must say I’m enjoying it and I can’t wait to conquer more with my buddies.

Here's a video that I made also.
